Akademos, Inc. is pleased to provide you access to this Web site, subject to the terms and conditions set forth below. Use of this site will constitute your binding acceptance of the terms and conditions, as revised from time to time. If you do not wish to abide by these terms and conditions, you must cease using this web site immediately.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF USE
You acknowledge and agree that this site, and its contents, are provided by Akademos.com on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis. Akademos.com makes no representation or warranties of any kind with respect to the site, the contents thereof, appropriateness or fitness of use or merchantability. Akademos.com cannot and does not warrant that the information or merchandise provided through this site is accurate, complete or current.
The information provided through this site, including but not limited to the book list, price, and availability, is subject to change without prior notice and at any time. The price information provided is not intended to and shall not be deemed to constitute a contract or an offer to form a contract, but is an advertisement for an offer. Akademos.com, its directors, officers, employees, agents, content providers and any and all third party involved in the development or maintenance of this site expressly disclaim any and all liability of any nature and kind.
"List Price" is the suggested retail price provided to us by publishers. Actual retail prices in your area may vary. Because we sell our merchandise over the Internet on a national basis, it is not possible to know if our merchandise is sold at list price in any particular location or at any particular time. "You Save." reflects the difference between our price and the publisher-provided list price shown on our sites. Because the list price may be different than the actual retail prices in your area, you may not actually realize a savings of this amount and may want to make an exact comparison for yourself by checking the prices of other Internet or local retailers prior to making a purchase.
Akademos.com reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to change, suspend or discontinue any or all constituent parts of this site, including the availability thereof, effective upon publication on this site.
By purchasing a rental item on Textbookx.com and its affiliated websites, you agree to the following terms and conditions. This agreement is between you, the renter, and Textbookx.com and its rental partners.
Privacy of Personal Information
Condition of Books
Books rented from TextbookX.com are guaranteed to be correct according to your order, and in an acceptable used or new condition. Hardback or paperback books will be shipped at TextbookX.com and its partnersí discretion and depending upon supplier availability. Books may also be an instructor's version if it is determined by TextbookX.com and its partners that the instructor's version is identical to the student version (besides instructor comments). It is our policy to rent only US edition textbooks. Unlike many online booksellers, we guarantee our books to be US editions. Supplemental materials, such as student access codes, CD ROMs, or supplemental workbooks are not guaranteed to come with your books even if the title of the book contains language regarding CD ROMs or other forms of supplements. Although we do our very best to find books that include all their supplements, many such materials are one-time use and are not available through our suppliers in used condition. Be sure before you order that you either have access to these supplements or that you don't actually need them for your class.
TextbookX.com relies on the expertise of our shipping providers which are USPS, UPS, and FedEx to get your books to you on time. Rare problems
such as weather delays, rural routes, or shipping carrier system delays could prevent a perfect delivery. TextbookX.com agrees to work very
closely with any customer that does not receive their book within the time frame selected. After a 24-48 hour processing period, please allow
7-14 business days (9-16 calendar days) for standard delivery, 4-7 business days (5-9 calendar days) for expedited delivery. Should a problem
arise, TextbookX.com will work very hard to track down the delivery problem or send out a replacement textbook at no cost to you.
Books rented from TextbookX.com are the property of TextbookX.com or its rental partners. At no time during the rental period does the renter obtain ownership of the books unless the renter purchases the book.
Agreement to Return Books
You agree to return rented textbooks to TextbookX.com or its rental partners, using the prepaid shipping label and envelope provided on or before the last day of your rental period. Books that are not returned to the specified returns center will not be cleared from your account. Please make sure you are using the supplied prepaid USPS shipping label to return all books. They are provided free of charge and provide both us and you definitive tracking of your books.
Books not Returned on Time
We will do our best to make returning your books simple and easy. If however, books are not returned at the end of the rental period (and after the grace period), as specified in the rental agreement, the renter will be notified via email that their card will be charged for a 15 day extension of their book(s). Rental extension(s) will continue until the difference between the rental price already paid and the value of the textbook is met. We work very hard to resolve every return discrepancy. After all, our goal is to keep you as a happy customer and continue to rent textbooks to you throughout your college career.
Maintenance and Care of Textbooks
You, the renter, agree to keep textbooks in an acceptable used condition. TextbookX.com or its rental partners are liable and responsible for the condition of rented textbooks only until they are received by the renter at the onset of the rental period. At the time of initial receipt, you, the renter, take full responsibility for the textbook. If textbook is lost, stolen, or damaged beyond reasonable use (cover ripped off, pages torn out, excessive water damage, etc.) renter will be responsible to either replace textbook with textbook in similar condition, or be charged the full replacement value for the textbook less the rental fee already paid. TextbookX.com and its rental partners understand normal wear and tear on a textbook. We even allow highlighting and writing within reason. Excessive damage is any damage that would prevent another student from reasonably being able to use and gain the full learning value from the textbook.
Right to Cancel Orders
TextbookX.com and its rental partners retain the right to cancel or refuse any order that results from an error in pricing due to typographical errors, miscommunication with our partners, or any other incorrect information.
Refund and Return Policy
No hassles. No worries. Any book returned within the first 30 days after the order date will be refunded 100%. Please do not wait for your prepaid shipping envelope to arrive if you are returning a book. Simply print off a return label from inside your customer account. Orders that are 45 days or less will be subject to a 15 day return policy. This means the book has to be back at our warehouse within 15 days of the original order date. We reserve the right to refuse a refund if we see the refund policy is being abused.
TextbookX.com and its rental partners shall not be held liable for any damages incurred, physical or emotional, tangible or intangible, beyond the rental price of the textbook. Books which are lost in transit will be replaced at no extra charge; however, TextbookX.com and its rental partners shall not be held liable for poor performance in school or any other tort stemming from the rental or non receipt of your textbooks.
We have structured our rental periods to fit the needs of a college student. The last thing we want is you worrying about not getting your book back to us on time. We have incorporated, at no extra charge, a grace period which allows you to rent your book early or hold on to it late in the case of a later than normal final exam.
Buying Your Books
If you decide you want to keep your book forever, simply access your account and select the book or books you wish to buy. Then select the
"Buyout" button. This amount is the difference between what you already paid in rental fees and the value of the book. If you decide to
purchase the book, simply complete the checkout process. Your account will be updated to show the new status.
